Here are some photos of the car with the Impala SS wheels mounted. The next item on the agenda is to get some photos of the engine bay with the Corvette fuel rail covers installed. This month I plan on finding a local upholstery shop to take care of the torn rear seat to complete the interior, and to get the car registered in Colorado.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i108/impa1a/Impala/c315361a.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 800px; height: 600px;" src="http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i108/impa1a/Impala/c315361a.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a>Jason & Cassiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14352382845729412716noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-262856564044166014.post-3443626194143178942009-12-03T06:41:00.000-08:002009-12-03T07:13:53.475-08:00Back on the road again! The car is back on the road. I still have some small things to take care of, but the most important thing is that the Impala lives! She is quite the different animal now that she is packing twice the horsepower that came stock with the original 305. I have some interior work left, and some work on the suspension to do, so it is still a work in progress. Here are some quick shots, more to come later!<img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5411027664269658146" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidKBZBok8Ix09yX_YPIk2tZLZ7e0uz6kr-vfzQqr9E8F22LSe60yjdE4m8HR6iXYHRCTBwsVtPUFy_DgAiI5rYuRls15VXo7ecVjBuFWaZg1sjxElu4cU8wb6oKfpF-oB5OEK91oZIolA/s320/IMG_0515.JPG" /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5411027654462184002" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJf5w7yV-PSZfrGPNwHKPrHXHI-Xs_OquRdV7y-eIJ7sdMzoOh73v7mgLNJHlvfGsB2S5Ha9GOnz2TRo3hF41eFyl9LzmigXa6ALdmwlpVceE6LgrK-luUUodfDgHPJ3eFT2_EotaX8sM/s320/IMG_0514.JPG" /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5411027640009948578" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEih2vLOa6rFqsnAaytVfBaS-YUAQT_I1DqiEGA5jgDCr3NwDNUudJgey3Ewye9l_tgvS-otcXjWsZ0avKVL6WUXGhQyRdt7_5ZeAGyDi_WCt8vceM0gt3EbagcFGoXu1NyJsR1TF2wCaBE/s320/IMG_0513.JPG" /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5411027669085482658" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1DzU3XrknbRf34rglCJiBMALmLNpIj-kuAeHfugQJkwzteRCbuFyb0RcodAgEiVKdr5-BLjAbwBn6qf9C8h-bT75Nx8VOjpB2Ss_-15CzbIqP4r1IS-CnpPV8ToZiWZc1nAHwKostpOk/s320/IMG_0516.JPG" /><br /><div align="center"></div>Jason & Cassiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14352382845729412716noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-262856564044166014.post-15303022469672578622009-10-30T14:47:00.000-07:002009-10-30T14:53:48.258-07:00Paint complete<div><div><div>The paint is now completed, and the shop is now putting her back together. The shop has replaced the bottoms of the doors, smoothed out the car, fixed many dings and dents, and is now in primer. It has been block sanded, and the panels have been test fit. They are working on the door jambs and inner parts like the underhood area, and fenders. I have also picked a color, which is the original silver metallic. I ordered new door seals, and trim pieces which will be installed after the paint is dry. Here are some of the latest pictures: <div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5385039669362126274" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiogYpa9bIVaQzk2-AmxrWgKkvt2jubpBRetTIqGTKSGeFeOPBVpCm5doE2PNv_vSPfaHBsmxrck2v2zJJHAk-mZwFC-QtMaelvmR35VmidHjsJAehTIKULRQifEkk9O7wDMRAVGAgEJnU/s320/IMG_0264.JPG" border="0" /></div><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5385039667082519154" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0pEJGqxkgav04YKZwWg6uocyYIvNyZUr_qUdeiw6NQfnzFF7vablQH-v26UdVNk_WmmWpckxEJlKb_YliHjvlnm6k2MGYpLwifMICgrzq5q-mBzOFRI8xTg1bJcULHrJYE09Lj8fpxU4/s320/IMG_0275.JPG" border="0" /></div><div> </div><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5385039679055221346" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbHQ21_8FP-lQdfQIj2oL-dQi3OdgdvXeaKzyLP2WQEHUo6pxVNl0OfV8cHyuiAj0ZmGo0qi0HCFJxaNcnZVI1J9KXwSIMH1yGQjLxEOw-MbpH_1aw2v7iNYBzB3ZrjjEHRf9_IdV_exg/s320/IMG_0277.JPG" border="0" /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5385039683978858786" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEju26SlXVTlUyzy230xhNUi-MdDe03XF1MCVaH44hm_5ZOmcvfUR_ZAtjdKE6XkmB_cKlqPchCSO5SgoCcLRu-zrd2ME-KPTkabkH0ZjAjTvhYHsx34YUWm-arqAy6qxpPf1HKOWRKmFMk/s320/IMG_0309.JPG" border="0" /></div></div>Jason & Cassiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14352382845729412716noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-262856564044166014.post-66349402345369072502009-07-08T06:50:00.001-07:002009-07-08T06:55:33.110-07:00Off to the paint shop<div>I have decided that my skills as a body repair tech are not what I hoped they would be. So, I decided to bring the car to the professionals, and get the car painted the right way. I found somone in town that is doing it in his shop, and I hope to have it back in two months. I am very excited that I will finally get to drive it, and it will all be one color again! </div><br /><div></div><br /><div>It will be painted the original silver metallic. I don't want to do anything too extreme, and really want to maintain a sleeper look. When I pull up to the stoplight, nobody will know that there is a fire breathing LT1 smallblock under the hood! Here is a photo from the shop where she is getting sanded down:<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5356087467931109442" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhut24zQvxBBJtJS6fexMYmwvLHH1ajRe2pBwGPoKDbGGiuVMHvdPxckrblff2eOaON2Xf8FHkAPHfiGuDsppMNNfjkSHv9aqyobTwdopwfXzGuyY5rAFI_VaoDeBoUwuDCxVdF2sqoY2s/s320/impala+body+shop.jpg" border="0" /></div><br />I will post more pics as the project progresses!Jason & Cassiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14352382845729412716noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-262856564044166014.post-28199485597465576922009-03-11T19:31:00.000-07:002009-03-11T19:40:54.777-07:00<div><div><div><div>We are still working on the car, slowly but surely. So far we have sanded and primed the front clip and are working our way back. We also bought some used set of wheels from a 94-96 Impala SS. We have removed the bumpers and trim to get ready for paint.<br /></div><div>Tonight we took apart the rear bumper, and bead blasted and POR-15 painted the inside of the bumper and it's parts. We will put it back together and work on the front bumper tomorrow. All of the parts are now on the car! We are both very excited, and are amazed that we were able to achieve so much. Now comes the body work, and panel fitting. I am sure that we will have to remove many of the parts again to get them to fit properly, and free from dents and rust. We will have to take the radiator support down a few notches to get the body panels to fit correctly, and lots more sanding and priming! Here are some pictures of our milestone:<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5298411291256389266" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiW0wqtDsiMfFkleP5j4T9tmHN1NKq1bpiK8L0SJgA_cjxfYOTANbAKaS5KDc1TC9CZBxxpHtVXZJFsDDeeAiggRhtAJbcfcliQDSo7XfA4DTgOsSdAQdW2sN_AH_inX7R5lmazn6gU9Ss/s320/Picture+003.jpg" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5298411285740321858" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJ5W8LTpYFRXgDAYf4DwcV3TfLsK0Xn0yY0QnT9JGuRtcadObVN-mWarGePYXodT0u1v1BuxOi1oonIuNDLdsnp_yvw0KrnsmXGNqC6tWxYWc6vPkpz8Q9881bIEdZQMrCNW8jSJrgKZ4/s320/Picture+001.jpg" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5298411279942171954" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTFKOZcJU_hKChzLS070wPwUWo69PL-f9cqlAUKncnrVUW9raPcuKumB9CMlIAKRUSTb8oZihyzs-ojfYKHZRg_99E5faAohMJAclskjmjniw_1kR0a1rXBqlwKU-8gAy-J5usOm3c_9o/s320/Picture+002.jpg" border="0" />Jason & Cassiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14352382845729412716noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-262856564044166014.post-47500271051301857252008-12-10T14:01:00.001-08:002008-12-10T14:15:23.482-08:00Doors and fenders on!<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOuZ9ae8yM4KMaki4JBIYdDza5m4rQQ02lFYwWQwwmfbmlDlujaKEomFAxiK1BjJMtjk5B-fMcHSqvNCizKMK12SvpwZ0XySkLmjKqKyFepdj3HXK68i7GgA7SQM8PPAEq2Sig2C8aHXA/s1600-h/PC070126.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5278286741038268082" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOuZ9ae8yM4KMaki4JBIYdDza5m4rQQ02lFYwWQwwmfbmlDlujaKEomFAxiK1BjJMtjk5B-fMcHSqvNCizKMK12SvpwZ0XySkLmjKqKyFepdj3HXK68i7GgA7SQM8PPAEq2Sig2C8aHXA/s320/PC070126.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0SJJgYKW2jx0eSLhHdMrhpSYatHrOeM7gATDOUJy4YgkD9uzAUqdh5Zp9JatY9rPC7a0127o1n83kpHvTiJ0nhdA83BQNq1h3TKSg5MpIVllrljNRCCV1ksrnCGVzlxXCD4-Z3htYqjo/s1600-h/PC070132.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5278286723913495794" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0SJJgYKW2jx0eSLhHdMrhpSYatHrOeM7gATDOUJy4YgkD9uzAUqdh5Zp9JatY9rPC7a0127o1n83kpHvTiJ0nhdA83BQNq1h3TKSg5MpIVllrljNRCCV1ksrnCGVzlxXCD4-Z3htYqjo/s320/PC070132.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div>The interior is almost complete and we have installed the doors and fenders. The wiring is complete! FINALLY! And the interior has been put back together. Cassie finished with the headliner and side panels, and they have been installed. The trim and front seat has been installed as well. We are finishing up the rear deck panel, and am looking to recover the back seat due to some sun damage. The car is starting to look like a car once again! We have installed a cold air intake on the LT1 due to the stock system not fitting. The Roadmaster had a little more room under the hood than the Impala toward the front. It starts up and sounds great. The body is installed, wiring has been installed, but not complete, and the car does finally run! We have gutted the interior and are installing a new headliner and carpeting. Currently the priority has been installing the radiator support, and getting the front inner fenders mounted. Here are some pictures of our progress: <div> </div><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5265753798840099122" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUMXtXwg4x7xE5ZfZu5CKvScHI1XFj1Z8pp4RmQdfEMiNvGsQNw8imIXeXOnxd9N9hFa3H0vGHQ-eH3E3NFDHV1gUB8OesdGSewjMf1Yyge7KlxEIs4Wdou2slCRfRpWZ4WUPsX5lp02k/s320/PB060068.JPG" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5265753793049617874" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicatfwdk5vObfuH7TAItdS_Oz9BUOcblKD116G63Tsi_P3XLOFqD64zdJ7t91ZbzAWjCG2IuKdhiTi7VK4HpN-1jsi3uwo37xZBGsjwYjXE61o5GSkj5vcGPtYOua4o1QPa23omv1D2wU/s320/PB060067.JPG" border="0" /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5265753804489584530" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKxof4bVtDv4oP059M8iicy4j-zHqPJEUKPSNj2ZLO3wztmA7gi5vOhndn92m_RK3H1KBlDJpM38RV-F_qFJ9x7kYOd6kcX7sbKfjo_gpomvWm-td5a8TKYbdMSguekmq7RfumP-JbDas/s320/PB060071.JPG" border="0" /><br /><br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5265753809703795266" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0gnNPaT0bZStJJygDZnPu4Nm-sgi_SROa_nMrIK3b7nOLQZs-qis8s9DJzqS_NQyiwf6tgMkRQcUZBlcCN1uHV0LRjEGv9ixIUlUaSir_3Ku1PkgJKEnofm1NVAGDFYWiHXbPwlJFPF8/s320/PB060072.JPG" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5265753808691222882" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgs3nLiAS1D5VJzEMBlmJCWZJkdB9NQwVuo7olwk4LP9Xz6j65Nm72EJapr_VNpOjOYBkIASLnPvxmYpjzdhVY5XUOgghZ3R3W0QJcOL4RyjXk6kukviWu-DBSmmE4z4jn_GfayLxMrnls/s320/PB060073.JPG" border="0" /><br /><div></div></div>Jason & Cassiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14352382845729412716noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-262856564044166014.post-16624880768421055782008-02-25T16:52:00.000-08:002008-02-25T17:10:09.275-08:00Updates<div><span style="font-family:verdana;">During the past couple of weeks we achieved a milestone, we managed to get the body mounted to the chassis. The body mated to the chassis easily, and fortunately no modifications were necessary. We have removed the sagging headliner, and have sent to get new fabric and sun visors recovered. We repaired a rusted out drivers seat floor, by cutting out the old floor from the Buick donor car and welded it in. Also we have begun the arduous task of putting all the electrical components together. The electrical progress is going to be a bit of trial and error, hopefully more trial for our case! Next week we hope to get the gas tank installed, the body securely mounted to the frame, and get the front frame rail/ bumper mount fixed. Then we can start putting the front end back together. We are excited now that the car is starting to look like a car again, and our progress is allowing us to see the light at the end of the tunnel.</span> </div><div> </div><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5171088825123695250" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEje1GLEsgjnOcg49MAsnAH8YOX4IKP4P5uLsoZHqvPjJZInHRZ4EElcH_9VVVWw03SbD0PPJd1KYZTQnI4F18GGyquvluZkHaf7kFR6I2rRtvVqKr9CsLFxHxAsiOY72OYEPkfGRl9AfsM/s320/Picture+015.jpg" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5171088833713629858" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1djgogerYLMXuiwZpGdWrEEPwA7vC7rlX7hTMRR39mnhYEOjZj9Vre1oP_ceKJxEbIqaEFyouda4CDlb3r77mG5uNfEEuc8sLk92MCChGQXLse1ycRE10Viws22RNxmJFa2PoxpqSXGA/s320/Picture+043.jpg" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5171088838008597170" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpxlIPjJC_BrNqww_Bl_gKU6rGF_WkN8yqf1BH_ZEtkrvfNnDPi_tFHF4p_gv06afQmW-tBMYxeNfAQh1_5owY2t-fICsOIgo9Vnb8ZBbqnLtzq7LL53irObw7d62N036YP8MWP7IYcKc/s320/Picture+039.jpg" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5171088842303564482" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglUVH6ftlJUg0f-4wAwPXnIn99eFBzw4goEAg3AtIMA4TgXO7j4rUKzgDmcQuj2T557dWozwr4-ht5bqZ7DLTb69yPq-8QTVZa-heIqW5mifCCbLwvHWB072XoSmBfJFrBtbBMNTwd2PM/s320/Picture+045.jpg" border="0" /></div>Jason & Cassiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14352382845729412716noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-262856564044166014.post-30984748286963669632008-02-11T07:49:00.000-08:002008-02-11T07:54:44.579-08:00Weekend work<div>We have been busy working on the project this weekend, accomplishing many tasks. We removed the sagging headliner, and have begun the process of scraping the material off of it, and ordering new material. We also fixed a hole in the floor by cutting the driver's floor pan out and welding in a piece from the Roadmaster. It fixed the rusty spot nicely. I will have pictures of the process up soon! <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5165751602408942210" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQaN3ctKD7l_8O4TK7Awh9-ZR8nraKW5SBWjSqIdobam3ecMaxWbFw-hKx3ZBhYRjOv6iLmgoecJL6Ipfa_tty5sGuw6pgq51eSRKwEvtJBqdtntqGeThgEJwhWOEXTQvgjLk7GmZAFKM/s320/impalaicon2.jpg" border="0" /></div>Jason & Cassiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14352382845729412716noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-262856564044166014.post-54421348648256041932008-02-04T18:04:00.000-08:002008-02-04T18:33:40.748-08:00Still slowly working on the project in '08Another year has come and we are still slowly making progress on our project. We haven't been able to spend alot of time on the car, but have made some good headway on certain items. The steering wheel gave us some trouble, but we took both wheels and made one from them. Also the Roadmaster instrument cluster was mounted into the dash assembly of the Impala.<br /><br />My wife has become a master at the parts blasting cabinet. She has painted many of the chassis components as well as anything else that could possibly rust on the underside of the car with POR-15 paint. She has also been helping me with the disassembly of the interior of the Impala to make way for the new electrical system.<br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5163317032298516626" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBe8T-Zsx3ymqezr4nQkfF1k8TEOHkbwZM9jveJE448qszOgMOOkXan5XStmjY9PbtHAROtDvF2r93eDZrGsI0O-qVWMcRhx8-DuCXUIvVl4GeJ_-4msdZuGGxsGdaEXnHuRDrpiAwK2k/s320/Picture+080.jpg" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5163317049478385842" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpfhcsTDTBlY2zo6VeIdyqw89En8d6_WrGua_4isiaEYmyvATTsGpwZbm8s6PUcEbKOi6TGEfK5tQET7_QScR6BI7shpesKORBm5oNeATLtuK69uIdCKzJ9CBRj8n5p7FxUMYf9U7yMWo/s320/Picture+075.jpg" border="0" /><br /><br />The steering coulumn fits nicely after being cut up, welded, and painted. We had to take the firewall mounts from the old wheel to mount onto the new one, take out the airbag controls, remount the Impala steering wheel, and paint it black to match the interior. We used the Roadmaster steering assembly because it has the cruise control, VATS security key, and it was a tilt column. Suprisingly all of the electrical connections match from the old system to the new one.<br /><p align="center"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5163317006528712818" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9_GnsEsUZVSgUJwJnmAk_3q8CBdSf88w_YSGQd6ky8_lVbeqN64mK26q9fHLFqAVQj5cVPf66pLOLfs2_9004kFlu2pbwKh5friiFUDCGRbTKnO4Z62j6Tk24XJUv2JnL1SimUUdLHu8/s320/Picture+077.jpg" border="0" /></p><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5163317019413614722" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYyD0zc0CZ38nTS7SbVnmKbes8ZLraSfKDffVHH7rhWMtl_NDIiqVHahyphenhyphen9nTn-5hYceVRuawP16qI2NtzErhNGTSjsfEJPvsbbs5JSLpB6HD7rFre2k-KXgj0kSPupZICRMQyOmu7jfq8/s320/Picture+078.jpg" border="0" /><br /><br />The instument cluster was a must have, due to all of the information that comes from the new electrical systemthat was incompatible with the old cluster. We weren't about to map out every system on the car, so the new cluster was a must, and it seems to fit in the old dash nicely. We belive that the new column and instrument cluster were good decisions to keep, and hope that they will work once we have all the electrical system installed.<br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5163317040888451234" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJBIDuI1NLT31a7IDA3YGCJeK0HHVewCUJ-WJFUMOg_8v2okMJ_82T8Y0pVbFpW6YN5f4V6Z1uTlwWJxoe5vIHJ5FAZQPmR_uPvHePqthZ_sKjNUr5uwBuuEH0xfh4SiaLRxaoPoHMeVA/s320/Picture+071.jpg" border="0" /><br />Currently I am in the process of installing the electrical system from the Roadmaster into the Impala. I have eliminated most of the unused items that were integrated with the Roadmaster, such as power locks, windows, mirrors, keyless entry, etc... Now comes the hard part of incorporating the new electrical with the old. I plan on keeping certain electrical functions from the old car including lighting, HVAC, and a few other odds and ends. I hope that we don't have a fire when we hook up the battery! One more thing, as we were installing the electrical we found some rust in the driver's floorpan, and that will have to be replaced. We hope to have that done sometime this month, as well as the preliminary wiring. I will post more as time allows. Thanks for reading!Jason & Cassiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14352382845729412716noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-262856564044166014.post-985978889399419402007-12-23T18:51:00.000-08:002007-12-23T19:33:36.079-08:0077 body removedThis week we removed the body from the 77. My wife finished painting the chassis black coating over the POR-15. That stuff is great! It paints right over the rust, just as advertised, and looks very good. We have the firewall forward yet to paint on the chassis, and will tackle that as soon as we get the bumper support bent back into shape. The frame was slightly bent in the front of the car, and we have been hammering it back into place.<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5147370941953364626" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" height="189" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijaPN2A2YV2z7uvgu4wjnWv-hPZdkSxpu92AIZP0n15QHU73gCpL_Vtv3Yfoc6oLel9nfM2y_lUU15x6cPW2ow9MTo9kmpOSD3MpkeACqkhFbJ8EPXz5nAXZVwziEtnHdHoWfQUQ_-be4/s400/Picture+011.jpg" width="330" border="0" />The body mount bushings were shot on both cars, so we had to order some new ones. I have read all of the posts regarding body mounts and mods, but we decided to go the the energy suspension bushings. I know that they will be slightly stiff, but that is ok. The Roadmaster has the soft ride suspension, so I hope the body mounts will even out the suspension and make it hande better. <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5147373999970079394" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgeeIaz1BVOHh8GnTAzvdu106OTwN9avVzEPd7VDYu7R3FgtwAUR3wA6fnOi-16gyLIMxoYHCy8O4vi7OUQmUl0LjpXB1vB1Im8N2ZoEVfJPUASGdGjdhEAt7i5k16A7YQexC35M6hQ7Q/s320/Picture+001.jpg" border="0" /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5147374004265046706" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkZx83BhO5eOYB4XpZvC2D47nXpBmSU6kj7M3tJFEzrafrrHWx0gG76YOORl2MzPulPxCKypNVzqNY4zLFnXXdsD3v_Dn7nPkTtdM6YDL4hodOvo8xGBWAvZpNIogZY3__fnvDC_-2mnk/s320/Picture+003.jpg" border="0" /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5147374008560014018" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibQ7oCNQop2YjJfWsgG6h9PlNP-l6U8IJu6ZaGw2sjcK7tPODypQXFYCoKlas3DDqpBlRQ-DWXm35Byoc_1kr79oIRPseYBNA0_IaVRoMA1Jjo-6mFlRYKyYNlrfPBl8X46abfToPwY5g/s320/Picture+007.jpg" border="0" /><br />We still have a long way to go with this project. The electrical system is going to be alot of fun to piece together! We have determined what items we plan on keeping and which ones need to go. We are keeping the buick steering wheel, with the VATS security key, as well as cruise control, and other things. We also have alot of work to do on the heating/ AC system. The next step is to get the new bushings, and mount the 77 body to the 94 frame. Have a great holiday! We will post again next year!Jason & Cassiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14352382845729412716noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-262856564044166014.post-80689563122642878852007-12-03T12:43:00.000-08:002007-12-03T13:01:53.054-08:00Grinding, Painting, and Wiring<div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj83Fj6olAT-he0wJhpTPOo9Pv5yVXtSycAsIvNE80r3N9cA9kdYeQIGrQyRlVIOGWbMeFAQIA0PfNKyQ5PxVIot9MfXPQlFX796_sow4uZxZf4XThriQlUs4LvY2lV-GfNiZtEdA4STWU/s1600-r/roadmaster+040.JPG"></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div>This weekend we were able to spend some time working on the frame prep, car wiring, and Impala body removal. My wife finished the grinding, and started painting the frame with POR-15. She managed to get the stuff on her hands, face, and eventually into her hair! This is some nasty stuff, and believe me it doesn't come off easily. I wasn't even painting and managed to get some on my fingers. The frame is looking good, and is ready for another coat of paint. My wife did this while I managed to get through some of the wiring harness, and took the Impala apart, preparing for the body removal. Here are some pictures of our progress. Notice the big pile of wires that was trimmed from the wiring harness! No need for the power locks, windows, mirrors, or seats! Less weight = Faster!<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpjt7uf-KKjSBwyFNdomHkS2z9sK_3_GJnP_PFsvjT4bWcs8hAqD81bRoG7d4-DbL0iWQztzaVkhyphenhyphenhoJfMN5ER-T4bVo96kkBwJs6MxMcxQDk2LmRLvvm_B4x8YHm-eBk2qgc2x8OT-pg/s1600-r/roadmaster+044.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5139853895507284930" style="CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijH6NHWEyB6M_jl9jpyXwu0XAqxQFLxuBSgxZTzLEKR4lWvGYiXLrBmFqAI3IlqmMmzspABavXu3PVnW6smw1kHMeT3Xgza-T0zyk1mCAfOLLhiPYWKSg6P4NaAA7kfruuv08vEF8wGBQ/s400/roadmaster+044.JPG" border="0" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIKRc2e9lLD2zJV9UxODAIcCdo1BwAEJLXj6LusYv2tGfhPMh5a38iu7ceGnv6wDHgbhr4bJO2kJG3z0P8ZLINkcM9YRUgvrhK3wf8RwOS9C6eF_uNx6nQpsAlP4fvGTRNJe5FvnqgRY8/s1600-r/roadmaster+043.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5139853886917350322" style="CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2mq9QtTg13UpNSUc2hkbZtsducFWyj3reDbrber3WGyV6g8D03rKB3Kt5vXwiSjFGGWGybc7r5m4jDz7c8j8i1WBaj6K3SZzzIW1yovS0eGXRw2NxFqNw56jo4iF025Mk_wF8xCiqF68/s400/roadmaster+043.JPG" border="0" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2DYedu5VcSaWR49W49ldRxCgN0Y7PUK2vEWbHMlQ3WjSZBiLL1WLpGBiAWu0KdhrPgCwBbje6YZe87LwpUs49_zNBqkAUreNrxC8k4UbYY0yeyj2N9LaxFpf4XLsbbHGw2jtWB5tgsiA/s1600-r/roadmaster+040.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5139853878327415714" style="CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3TAHVfHKkjEx8k40bmPckQqwpZd6ZGJtJ17eFcoNfs_TH36WcoJRAUCWeM8ciqaOE6qzSz7Lf3XC7Y9G7t4FxzMo25Yhux5xpC15abkgs9SeX4traT4fG9IizZawUhfNidIxCyV1C5lA/s400/roadmaster+040.JPG" border="0" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhioRQBZffHRqrYtWRKqrgnF-TRZ84YBqrtksc_W7UkahlVnws8x9_FUf5SiRyGVmzPzvYrJ6WIFYPMm8bZD_Fcdcc7UKbpbTVY_eAUievqG4PsLJklEM_e4__whpTRyQCVtqBcFHWJKFk/s1600-r/roadmaster+041.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5139854342183883746" style="CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdvz3lVcZ_-NaI9jOkNXtJWNoTgX8rHGoQdfP_jkTO_ylipYf2aI_mGmmTAJgGzwht7ddmzIsT5LMd9AvDDhq0YUlqj5TGvyc5U3OBd8asvn6X4Jwyuy0iZZVpKebcNi2SDEHpPZRHmX4/s400/roadmaster+041.JPG" border="0" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXSXwuo_V7Yd7_kuAXFPCL6WCJn62jcHPcEdd6W4pADSjROqjuR6DBy2esnWbMk7YDlta_ZpyVqCOATPy9xbzJPRFfMzVnud35NM3dx4955XIylP9fj49b3SuP7ioHr94SyuAipvSZm_s/s1600-r/roadmaster+042.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5139853899802252242" style="CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinuRaEFnataMJ2T2OzcKQ7A-6tO7DwcCOP6wffeUe03evfk7nF894LdlVEDThK26QnHxed-uoxSakPYayHSwGxTtSJ5dD46ea1cTYlZla9qUW5QYO2KKR6QbN3Lqsdx3zBs-BNHUht434/s400/roadmaster+042.JPG" border="0" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIZOkl-NQ0DC5zzI-6OgVbbWD5GATUt-lHAMy6cXZe9WxqOvMTuRpyfNeko9M7Y0PpPsfLAJpeAt1eQJ22ms1MK6Do7BSVMkCkrX7VIIRX17w77qa9xuMsLu5Tcr1O_hPXIAkTa9y59yM/s1600-r/roadmaster+046.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5139854346478851058" style="CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSdK2klhppyFnFh6VDdto1ru7Yt90Ux7V8cpaaKxVAg3dpJS_BLAWPdI5sNs7JfjNopOWfhabS_0WplDvKNDxyoB3jrBFkMkLncQL4heah8cBeg783U9dQMhlft5i7sTxK1dJVqqbrJU4/s400/roadmaster+046.JPG" border="0" /></a></div></div>Jason & Cassiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14352382845729412716noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-262856564044166014.post-18699304668143055232007-11-27T12:14:00.000-08:002007-11-27T12:45:44.282-08:00Selling parts not needed<div>I have been selling many parts from the project cars that I will not be using with the swap. I have already sold close to $550 worth of parts via E-Bay and other online forums. Thank you for all that have purchased from me! I am continuing the process, and hope to have the rest of the doors and interior sold by the end of next week. I haven't had much time to work on the project over the holiday week, nor this week. It seems that everything is happening at once and our days are all booked! I hope to have some time this week and perhaps this weekend to tackle some dismantling of the 77. It is our goal to have the frame spruced up and the 77 body installed within the next month. Then is the tricky part of converting some of the newer car parts and integrating them into the 77. Just look at the wiring harness that came from the Roadmaster!</div><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhj_6WUHIzatROHvbzKQXMU7G2H2BMgYFOUbJPLfyr1QC2I6L8vTlY2PQrplJXmgpmMaWVJrUdp5BqRp4kt1EXQa33r6b0JfFnlJPcAnPyWaCIaPA95t2JOA3SCIj8S5T_ph22C_K6f4dU/s1600-h/roadmaster+018.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5137623832781507746" style="CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhj_6WUHIzatROHvbzKQXMU7G2H2BMgYFOUbJPLfyr1QC2I6L8vTlY2PQrplJXmgpmMaWVJrUdp5BqRp4kt1EXQa33r6b0JfFnlJPcAnPyWaCIaPA95t2JOA3SCIj8S5T_ph22C_K6f4dU/s400/roadmaster+018.JPG" border="0" /></a></div>Jason & Cassiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14352382845729412716noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-262856564044166014.post-32715595305836195572007-11-12T07:03:00.000-08:002007-11-12T07:30:26.675-08:00"RoadSmasher" Body Removal<span style="font-family:verdana;color:#333333;">The smashed up Roadmaster has now been stripped down to the bare frame. We removed the bubbly body from the chassis last night... oh what fun! I managed to pick up the body without removing the driveshaft crossmember, and almost made a costly mistake! That would have broken off the yoke or possibly the rear of the transmission, but luckily I caught it before any damage happened. After removing the crossmember, my trusty 1962 Clark Forklift didn't break a sweat lifting the bulky body off of the chassis that it was set on 13 years ago. </span><br /><span style="font-family:verdana;color:#333333;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:verdana;color:#333333;">I think that we have really come a long way since the start of this project, and i think that now is the point of no return... My wife and I are going to being the cleaning up the frame and drivetrain, and get some of that ugly rust off of our chassis. I wish we could just bring the whole setup to a media blaster and have at it! We have done some work to the Impala, blasting parts and repainting them such as the battery tray, inner fenders, and other items that fit in our small blasting cabinet. </span><br /><span style="font-family:verdana;color:#333333;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:verdana;color:#333333;">I have been selling alot of parts on E-Bay, so if you happen to need something, let me know! We hope to sell parts from the car in order to fund our project. So far we have made $360 from parts, and we have many left to sell. The car was $1600, so only $1240 left to go!</span><br /><span style="font-family:verdana;color:#333333;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:verdana;color:#333333;">Below are the pictures of both cars, and the body coming off. It has taken a few weeks worth of evenings and weekend hours to carefully take the car apart, and saving everything that we plan to reuse in the project. The electrical system is going to be the most challenging part of the process, now that we have it totally out of the car it is going to be alot of fun tying it all back together. I guess that is what the shop manuals are there for! Lots of reading, planning, and trial and error ahead! Our next step is to take the shell of the Buick off of the frame to begin work on the drivetrain and suspension systems. I hope to sand and repaint most of the chassis, and sandblast most of the a-arms and other parts that will fit into my blasting cabinet. I have some items that I have listed on E-bay if anyone is interested in some </span><a href="http://motors.search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZimpa1a"><span style="font-family:verdana;">Buick Roadmaster parts</span></a><span style="font-family:verdana;">. I was able to bring the big Buick home last Saturday. It was a 320 mile journey each way to central Ohio, and it only took 12 hours to complete! Gotta love the backroads! (not fun) Anyway, the car is here, and we have been quick to start the disassembly of the smashed land yacht. The chassis looks to be very nicely intact, and the interior is very nice. Looks to have been driven by an elderly person, as I found evidence of it in the interior. The engine runs very strong, and was able to break the tires loose on the test run....just a little smoke ;). Here are pictures of the current status of both vehicles. My wife and I will be working on it more this week, and should have another post next week! I have always dreamed about putting an LT1 V8 into the car. Now I am attempting to make this dream a reality... I found a 1994 Buick Roadmaster that was involved in a slight fender bender, and am off to pick it up tomorrow. I guess we will have to call the car the Chevrolet Impala Roadmaster (Roadmonster)! I will post updates as the project progresses. Here is a picture of the Buick..<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKf1f34AjhsvrAhzxVG4Ybnu_CGtP7sNFu3h_RU3JB30jsL_Q3BSi8oSzakyRyWm9q2crpKEY9i_WnpezK0anfm3b48y9odPQtZPcYDz2z9_jefuLLCDlMggIFzlQ_OdtpxZ4i9wuwmfM/s1600-h/2021_lg.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5117949969143216146" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKf1f34AjhsvrAhzxVG4Ybnu_CGtP7sNFu3h_RU3JB30jsL_Q3BSi8oSzakyRyWm9q2crpKEY9i_WnpezK0anfm3b48y9odPQtZPcYDz2z9_jefuLLCDlMggIFzlQ_OdtpxZ4i9wuwmfM/s200/2021_lg.jpg" border="0" /></a></div>Jason & Cassiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14352382845729412716noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-262856564044166014.post-77913174292361370352007-10-04T07:47:00.000-07:002007-10-04T07:59:20.389-07:00More HistoryI drove my car to and from school and work daily for about 4 years. When I went away to college, I managed to destroy the rear axle in the old girl (among other things that I was able to repair along the way). It was one of the spider gears in the rear axle that went, causing the car to make all kinds of noise when turning. The odometer showed 120,000 miles at this point, so I decided that it was time to get a more reliable vehicle, and with the help of my parents, I purchased a 1994 Dodge Dakota pickup. The car then was hidden away, with the hopes of restoring it in the future. While driving other cars, I still wondererd how I would be able to bring the Impala back to life. Dduring the years that I let her sit, I was able to repair the rear axle, and fix some of the rusty spots that plagued all vehicles that live in Northern Illinois. As of right now it has been ten years since the car was first put into storage, and it is time to begin "Project Impala".Jason & Cassiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14352382845729412716noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-262856564044166014.post-48969883005221707932007-10-04T07:25:00.000-07:002007-10-04T07:45:16.987-07:00Some History<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcGxRl_AwyYIT_J-w4i63eC0dIKrP7jyDQLq-0HDfsKA-QpV16Pd44eVHtxAmb6PAv3KMEIrKP60W3XhvZu-U0taQn7AlqbN3KzMhRV2pK6Co3MRjFwYFYaS8m8EBY1Aj3m4IH3o1sMg8/s1600-h/909.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5117492503586584562" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcGxRl_AwyYIT_J-w4i63eC0dIKrP7jyDQLq-0HDfsKA-QpV16Pd44eVHtxAmb6PAv3KMEIrKP60W3XhvZu-U0taQn7AlqbN3KzMhRV2pK6Co3MRjFwYFYaS8m8EBY1Aj3m4IH3o1sMg8/s200/909.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div>I was a Sophomore in High School, and it was late fall. I was approaching my 16th birthday, and I was busily looking for a set of wheels that would transport me into a new realm of freedom. I asked a good family friend that is in the car mechanic and towing business if he knew of any relatively inexpensive vehicles that I would be able to afford for my first car. He told me that his mother had a car that she seldomly drove, that would be perfect for me as a first time driver. It was a silver 1977 Chevrolet Impala. It was a beautifully kept silver sedan, that still had the plastic carpet cover on the floorboards!
